Leadership = Vision → Hope → Change → Better World

“Leadership is the challenge to be something more than average.” “If your actions create a legacy that inspires others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, then, you are an excellent leader.”

On 25th March 2018, I hurriedly boarded a bus to reach my college and grabbed a seat by the window and slowly dozed off while listening to soft music. I could sense a person sitting next to me who moved hesitantly and frequently gazed all over at me. I consciously ignored his intention to strike a friendly conversation as I was busy in my own world. No sooner had I slowly opened my eyes I was surprised to find that the person sitting next to me is but a small village boy. I smiled at him gently and sported a friendly look on my face to ease his tension. The boy was overwhelmed with my friendly gesture and started talking to me and narrated his entire ordeal. At the end of his speech, all I could understand was that this little boy was in desperate need of a caring person who could talk to him fondly and help him out of the depression as he was returning from his brother’s funeral.

I gradually began conversing with him and imparted some positive thoughts into his confused little brain. Hours went by as we both formed a brotherly bonding and the purpose of my journey seemed more appropriate and meaningful as I encouraged him and explained the importance of having vision for one’s life. After few months one fine morning i.e. on 23rd March 2019, I received a call from this kid and couldn’t stop my tears as he narrated how that journey impacted his life as it not only gave meaning to his existence but ignited a passion to achieve something great, such as to become an aeronautical engineer. Then I realized that a Great Leadership is not about mere leading or guiding, but is about instilling hope and change that can impact their lives forever.
